Term 1 Week 1: T & E Challenge

This week the Year 4s had to work together in groups of 3 or 4 to solve a T & E task.

The task:
Create the longest paper chain possible in 25 minutes using the following items
- 2 sheets of A3 paper
- 1 roll of sticky tape
- scissors

Students were given 5 minutes to strategise, make a plan of attack and allocate jobs/roles for different group members. Here are some pictures of the students at work.

Four groups of students won the challenge at the end. The length of the paper chains from the winning groups were so close it was hard to determine which group had the longest chain. Students learnt it was important to delegate jobs amongst themselves to maximise the time and minimum resources they had. They had also realised longer thinner paper strips made better paper chains for this task.
